Dr. Marcus Deaver D.C.
Chiropractor
I never knew the power of an adjustment until my younger brother’s middle ear infection cleared up after two adjustments. He was 2 years old at the time and had battled Otitis Media (middle ear infection) for about a year. My mother took us to the chiropractor in a neighboring town for care. Since that day we have been maintaining our health through regular chiropractic adjustments.
After witnessing my chiropractor’s love and dedication to his patients, as well as the power of an adjustment, it has inspired me to become a chiropractor. I started my education at Wichita State University, where I earned my bachelors degree in biology in 2003. In 2006, I graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree. I graduated with honors earning Magna Cum Laude. I chose to attend Palmer College (located in Davenport, IA) because it was the birthplace of chiropractic. Palmer is referred to as the Fountainhead of the chiropractic profession. It trains the world’s finest chiropractors, and graduates more doctors than any other school. I also enjoy traveling to other countries to provide chiropractic care to poverty-stricken areas. To date, I have served in India, Haiti, and Liberia.
Currently, I am on several community boards including the Chamber of Commerce, YMCA, and Strategic Planning Committee. I enjoy spending time every week helping students in the Adopt-A-Class program at the public schools. It’s a local initiative, called ‘Vision 20/20’ to help business leaders become mentors for kids. I am also passionate about teaching and educating others about health topics and disease prevention. Being a member of a national non-profit organization, called the ‘Foundation For Wellness Professionals,’ I provide workshops for businesses and organizations (on various health topics) at least once a week.
God has a purpose for each individual and a there is a reason why we were born. I chose chiropractic as a career because I believe that my purpose is to “Help as Many People as Possible in the Most Natural Means.”
My practice philosophy is simple, “Do what works best for the patient.” I know that everybody is different. No two people will respond to same situation. Because of that reason, I think that everyone needs individual attention based on what he/she needs, not what is easiest for the doctor or what is dictated by insurance companies. I take pride in developing an individual care package for each person I see.
I also believe that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. That is why I like to focus on the wellness aspect of your health. If you eat right, eliminate toxins, reduce stress, exercise, and get regular adjustments, you prevent the multitude of health problems that exists today. Living a healthy lifestyle is a lot easier than most think. I am committed to educating as many people as possible in changing his/her habits to prevent disease.
I believe that you should practice what you preach. That is why I still get checked and adjusted at least once a week. I may not need it every week, but I still get my spine evaluated. Some of my other health habits include taking Omega-3 fish oil, Undenatured Whey Protein, a quality multivitamin, Vitamin D, Magnesium, and Adrenal Support every day. I also get massaged about once a month, avoid Gluten products, and do a Foot Detox Bath at least 2 times a month. I only drink filtered water and avoid pop or soda. Occasionally, on the weekends I allow myself a donut or two.
